Description: the words “rather moody” are stitched and quoted directly from the typewriter font from boarding school documents from the artist’s family. Her direct ancestor was described as being “rather moody,” as she plead with the Red Lake Indian Agent and Wahpeton boarding school superintendent to allow her son to return home as word had gotten out about an abusive teacher. This piece tells a visual story of the emotional strength and resilience forced upon her ancestors in the face of cultural degradation.
